The short answer I usually give is

“Cook it with a little sugar or cook it as you would apple, it’s nicer cooked than raw”. 

 

Then someone told me Chinese use it in their main meals, so I tried it in my own favourite roast dinner where I cooked it alongside the meat and other vegetables, long and slow, and OMG I was very pleasantly surprised!

Even my teenage kids ate it!
